During three years, (2015, 2017, 2018) I was kindly invited to work as tutor with the promising students in the fields of urban planning, landscape architecture and architecture on developing they’re own hand in design. of the Academie van Bouwkunst in Amsterdam.

Led by head Bruno Vermeersch, Master of form, was a course with a focus on form. Whichever way you look at it, everything that surrounds us is form. It is an integral part of our life and so of architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning, if not the main basis of these fields of study.

THE INTERIOR OF THE CROSSROAD - V3 Michou Nanon de Bruijn 2017 / Academie van Bouwkunst, Amsterdam

THE INTERIOR OF THE CROSSROAD
In the next period we will work on decisions, individual decisions, and decisions we need to make in order to continue. We will work on the crossroad, to find our own road to materialize our own senses. This Course will be about the small and big things, the smelly and the tasty, the round and the edgy, the raw and the cooked, the reality and the dream…. Definition of Crossroad:

1. a road that crosses a main road or runs cross-country between main roads
2. usually crossroads plural in form but singular or plural in construction
a.) the place of intersection of two or more roads
b.) a small community located at such a crossroads, a central meeting place
c.) a crucial point especially where a decision must be made

V5 Michou Nanon de Bruijn - Man in between Spaces 2015 / Academie van Bouwkunst

MAN IN BETWEEN SPACES
While moving trough a space we are always in between other spaces. The creations surrounding us are not solely defining its shape, but also do have an impact on the visitor. In this workshop we are investigating the effect a space can have on an human being. Which movements or emotions are directed by it and which can be influenced? You are encouraged to leverage their varied expertise in order to find provocative and perhaps unexpected forms. Techniques of representation and iterative development across various mediums will be required.
