DesignCares

With the aim of supporting the vitality and self-reliance of elderly people living at home in the inner city of Utrecht, the Bartholomeus Gasthuis, Architecture Centre Aorta and the Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie took the initiative in April 2016 for this interdisciplinary research project aimed at strengthening the integrated chain of welfare, housing and care. Five young designers worked together with Bartholomeus Gasthuis staff, local entrepreneurs and elderly people to develop strategies to increase the vitality and self-reliance of elderly people living at home in the centre of Utrecht.
