I wish I had a balcony
Brigitte Coremans, Lea Haefliger, Zoubida Tulkens, Michou-Nanon de Bruijn
Vision
The balcony is a private space in the public space. It s like a nest in a tree, like a drawer pulled out of a building. Flying above reality, forgetting troubles, diving in thoughts, you can dream away. Not every- body has this advantage. What about people who don t have a balcony, but would love to have one? We will talk with them and let them dream away as well. Not on the balcony but about the balcony.
Concept
By asking the living corporations we want to collect addresses from people living in Amsterdam in flats without a balcony. We will visit as many of these people as possible and will have an interview with them. This interview will be about their dream balcony and has to give us inspiration to be able to come up with design solutions, which will be the main content of the exhibition. To take away any restrictions we will ask a good mixture of questions (the question list will follow in this booklet). As mentioned in the vision a drawer symbolizes the balcony. That is why we have chosen a drawer as mainformat. Each drawer will contain our design solution for someone s wish. It can be an inspiration for urbanplanners and architects. For each drawer we are going to use the same material. To point at our solution we will use specific materials and colours. Every drawer is a project on it s own (wish/solution).
